If that doesn't work troubleshoot that one instead of immediately jumping to another mod. be sure it doesn't need anything else, and is immediately available in the game. Instead of a frenzy of downloading and installing mods, try with ONE simple mod first. Other mods require something else to work, such as SKSE, another mod or a particular DLC. As we don't know what mods you are having a problem with we can't say for sure if this is what you are running into. Not every mod starts instantly - some you need to do something in the game - such as making an item at a forge.
